Cremaster Series Matthew Barney Series Conceptually Follows
Each video ranges in length and can be very tense as Barney uses a non-linear, non-Hollywood visual style that has more in common with abstract. Matthew Barney is arguably the most important American artist to emerge in. This screen print was made in conjunction with the final film in Matthew Barney’s magnus opus, The Cremaster Cycle. The series conceptually follows the male cremaster muscle which raises and lowers the testes during the embryonic processin the fifth film it is in its most descended state of sexual differentiation.
